A product feed is the engine behind successful affiliate marketing. It determines how your products are presented on comparison sites, blogs and various affiliate sites. If the feed is flawed, you risk losing visibility and sales. With a complete and accurate feed, your affiliates instead have the best possible conditions to drive traffic and generate business.

You are more visible with a complete product feed

A high-quality product feed is one of the most important success factors in affiliate marketing. Titles, descriptions, links, images, prices, GTINs, shipping costs and branding all need to be in place and of a high standard for your products to be seen and sold. Deficiencies in the feed will cause affiliates to opt out of you in favor of advertisers with better data. By regularly reviewing and improving your feed, you increase your visibility, strengthen the relationship with your affiliates and maximize your sales.

For many affiliates, the product feed is the only basis they have to work with. If important parts are missing or incorrect, it becomes impossible for them to market your products in a professional manner. The result is often that they choose other advertisers with better data. Therefore, it is crucial that your feed maintains high quality in all key parts. We recommend that all values are at least 90 percent to avoid problems.

Below, we will go through the most important parts of a feed and explain why they matter to both you and your affiliates.

Titles

A clear and well-written title is the first thing that both affiliate and customer encounter. The title must be unique, informative and reflect the product correctly. It functions as a quick identifier in long lists of products. If you have vague or too short titles, the products will be harder to find and the click-through rate will decrease. A good title contributes to both higher conversion and better visibility in search engines.

Descriptions

The product description is central to explaining what the product actually offers. It helps affiliates write relevant content and makes it possible to compare products in a fair way. If descriptions are missing, the result is thinner content and lower credibility. For the end customer, the lack of a good description can mean that they do not dare to make the purchase. It is therefore important that the description not only exists, but is also correct and rich in content.

Links

A functioning product link is the very basis for affiliates to be able to send traffic to your web shop at all. If the link is broken or leads to the wrong place, the entire deal is lost. Affiliates quickly avoid advertisers who cannot guarantee stable and correct links.

Image links

Images sell. A product without an image risks being completely overlooked, no matter how good the price or title is. For affiliates, images are a prerequisite for creating attractive listings, ads and articles. High-resolution and relevant product images increase both click-through rates and conversions. It also strengthens your brand and makes the customer feel more confident.

Prices

Price information is one of the most important data points. Without an accurate price, the product becomes useless for affiliates, because customers expect clarity about the cost. An incorrect or missing price causes the advertiser to lose credibility and risks high dropouts in the purchase process. Prices must also be updated continuously so that they always match what is valid in the store.

GTIN number

GTIN (Global Trade Item Number) is a unique item number that is used globally to identify products. For affiliates, this is crucial because it allows them to match products with other databases, compare prices, and ensure that the right product is presented. Without a GTIN, your products risk being at the bottom of the priority list or not being visible at all in key channels. It also means you miss out on price comparison opportunities that drive traffic and sales. GTIN is sometimes called EAN or Barcode in some systems.

Shipping costs

Customers want to know the total cost of a purchase right away. If shipping costs are missing, affiliates can’t show the final price, which degrades the shopping experience and increases the risk of churn. Complete shipping information creates clarity, reduces uncertainty, and leads to more completed purchases.

Brand

Indicating the brand on a product makes it easier for affiliates to sort, categorize, and present products in the right context. Many customers search directly for specific brands, and without this information, visibility is greatly reduced. Brand information also builds trust in the product, as customers often trust well-known brands more than generic items.

How can I improve my feed?

Unfortunately, it is not possible to give a completely unambiguous answer to this question. It depends on which e-commerce platform and any plugin/third-party program that creates your product feed. But often it is a matter of checking that the information is entered; Do all your products have a description? Do they have a price? Do they have an image? Etc.

In some cases, it may be that you have the data in the feed, but its fields have not been mapped correctly. A field called ProductName in your feed may not be mapped correctly to the Title field, for example. This may be worth checking if all the values of a certain field are missing from us, even though you know they are there with you.

The work is an investment that pays off immediately

Having a product feed with high data quality is not just a technical detail, it is a strategic investment. When all parts of the feed are complete, you create the best conditions for your affiliates to succeed, while strengthening your own brand and increasing sales. Therefore, review your feed regularly and ensure that all fields are updated and correct. It is an investment that pays off immediately in the form of more clicks, more conversions and stronger relationships with your affiliates.
